Job Description

Trylon is looking for a procurement specialist to join our team in the Elmira, ON office. The successful candidate will support the objective, operational goals, policies and procedures of Trylon TSF relative to the purchasing goals and objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Issue and fully evaluate quotes from multiple qualified suppliers able to meet delivery requirements, quality of product, currency factors, FOB point, etc. all while using your negotiating skills to improve and obtain the best overall cost of supply.
  • Purchase other materials and/or services as requested and in accordance with Trylon TSF policies and procedures.
  • Clearly communicate procurement issues affecting Trylon TSF to appropriate departments & Manager.
  • Utilize Visual and other software to maintain up to date all Purchase Orders.
  • Resolve purchase order price and quantity discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Obtain material documentation from suppliers when required to meet customer and/or Trylon TSF requirements.
  • Conduct research to ascertain market trends and needs for assigned commodities and projects.
  • Develop market intelligence, knowledge and contacts for new products and services.
  • Negotiation of supply agreements & contracts including monitoring their status and results.
  • Monitor and maintain cost, quality and levels of service.
  • Update and manage supplier scorecards and monthly metrics for Key Suppliers.
  • Negotiate and purchase raw materials, equipment, supplies and services from qualified suppliers. Evaluate supplier quotes, services and performance to determine the best overall supplier(s).
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of purchased materials and components to support production and Logistics.
  • Maintain in Visual all current price records, including applicable price breaks and preferred vendors.
  • Review, analyze and recommend a disposition of all materials deemed obsolete or having excess inventory.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Have good negotiating and well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment while prioritizing multiple tasks and ensuring that deadlines are met and communicated.
  • Ideal candidate will have a Materials Management diploma (or equivalent) combined with 3-5 years
  • Experience with Visual (or other ERP software required.)
  • Registration in PMAC Professional Development Program a definite asset.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct & Ethics of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada.
