Job Description

Working with our production team in Elmira, ON, the Production Scheduler will be accountable for preparing and coordinating the production schedule and all related activities.

Accountabilities include:

  • Prepare weekly production schedule and issue work orders to each cell
  • Ensure integrity of the data entered and monitor production progress
  • Compile worksheets and specifications of orders
  • Prepare and maintain metrics and various other daily reporting
  • Review long term forecasts to identify and mitigate possible capacity/material issues and recommend appropriate action
  • Increase worker efficiency and production rates through scheduling sequencing
  • Ensure that work orders are completed in a timely fashion, within budget
  • Work with supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments
  • Review demand and supply to understand bottleneck and propose alternative capacity or areas needing capacity improvement to meet demands.
  • Perform ongoing analysis of weekly monthly and future capacity to optimize product level loading and achieve manufacturing continuity during low and high-volume months.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders production schedules and other records/report to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimated and outputs
  • Focus on Continuous Improvement with assigned projects to meet target savings and efficiency levels
  • Collaborate with and support the procurement teams as needed, such as Purchase Order creation

Job Requirements

  • Production experience preferred such as Materials Management
  • Extensive knowledge of MRP, demand flow, JIT, forecasting, Inventory Planning, Kanban, and supply chain design.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of Visual Manufacturing an asset
  • Diploma in related field
  • 5 years’ experience as a Production scheduler is an asset
  • Strong problem-solving skills (quick, creative, and proactive)
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight time constraints
  • Experience working within a unionized environment is an asset
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Word and Outlook
