Job Description

The Quality Assurance Shipping Inspector is accountable for the auditing of out-going shipments of fabricated/purchased product to ensure that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with customer specifications.

Requiring a high level of attention to detail, the QA Shipping Inspector will use various techniques and methods to detect and report out any defects/errors found. Assistance with any containment and Corrective Action may also be required.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary in order to continuously support the quality management system.

Accountabilities:

  • Audit and record the Quality status of out-going product to identify areas for containment, immediate correction when necessary, and improvement
  • Inspect shipments for previously-recognized quality issues; identify defects/discrepancies as per Trylon tolerances/customer requirements
  • Remove/quarantine defective items, ensuring clear communication of the problem to departmental leaders
  • Report defects to the Quality Manager
  • Assist with the maintenance of QA monitoring programs, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers
  • Promote and advocate quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization
  • Create and maintain related QA controlled documentation

Job Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to communicate concerns, clearly document them, and verify that the corresponding correction and/or corrective action have rectified the nonconformity
  • Experience with computers, and specifically Microsoft Office
  • Able to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Able to perform practical problem solving, and contain internal quality concerns
  • Detail oriented
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, work in various environments, and be able to list up to 80lbs.
  • Knowledge of Quality System, such as ISO 9001:2015
  • Previous experience with forklifts and overhead cranes would be an asset
  • Post-Secondary education in Quality Assurance would be an asset, but is not required
