Job Description

Working with Trylon’s Field Services team, our Foreman is responsible for leading a crew of telecommunication riggers in the duties associated with the installation of a telecommunication tower/rooftop and related equipment.  This role is 100% based in the field with offices located in Alberta and British Columbia. 


Duties of the Foreman include:

  • Understanding of the #1 commitment in the field: health and safety, with complete adherence to proper procedures and PPE applications.
  • Duties associated with the installation of a communication tower and related equipment:
    • Identify and select cables, ropes, blocks, and tackle by weight and size of load to be moved.
    • Sort material when it arrives on site to ensure that no material is missing.
    • Set up anchors for the guy wires and have them ready to pull the guys up to tension.
    • Work with communications tower structural steel and properly bolt connections.
    • Proficient with ginpole and/or crane working procedures.
    • Install various antenna mounts.
    • Perform plumb and tension for all types of communication towers and poles.
    • Install various antenna and transmission line systems, which include:

      • Assemble various types of antenna.

      • Install all transmission lines up the tower.

      • Install connectors on transmission lines along with hoisting grips, hangers and ground kits.

      • Install antennas and jumpers.

      • Adjust antennas on tower with the correct azimuth and tilts.

      • Perform microwave hop alignment, i.e. panning dishes for the strongest reception.
    • Install various ancillary items on a communication tower including:

      • Wave-guide bridge for transmission lines.

      • Ice guards on tower to protect dishes.

      • Anti-climbs and fall arrest systems.

      • Lighting systems.

      • Grounding systems.
    • The ability to provide direction to Crane Operators engaged in hoisting and moving loads, to ensure the safety of others and material handled.
    • Identify, inspect and select cables, ropes, blocks, and tackle by weight and size of load to be moved.
  • Instruct crew on daily tasks and duties.
  • Supervise assigned crew and verify quality and completeness of work performed. Report daily to Field Supervisor c/w timesheets & photos of days work
  • Ensure safety procedures and policies are being adhered to.
  • Teach and train junior staff.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights of up to 500 feet and greater, handling tools.



Job Requirements

The ideal candidate has

  •  3 – 5 years of rigging experience
  • 1 or more years in a lead hand position 
  • able to travel across Alberta and British Columbia with valid climbing certification.
